We support many women throughout their pregnancy and are part of a pregnant woman’s team that includes partners, midwives, doctors, doulas and family.
Chiropractic care in pregnancy creates balance, ensuring that the mother’s spine and nervous system can work at their optimal capacity – critical with the changes taking place in her body and providing the best possible environment for the developing baby.
Your Chiropractor will work on your spine and pelvis during pregnancy to promote balanced movement and alignment. With the pelvis in a balanced state, the ligaments connected to the uterus maintain an equalised, supportive suspension for the uterus.
If the pelvis is out of balance, these ligaments can become torqued and twisted, causing a condition known as uterine constraint. Ensuring that your pelvis and neurology is balanced will help your body to adapt to pregnancy more gracefully and easily and by relieving the tension, baby and mother are more comfortable.
Most women have found that chiropractic care helped them avoid the use of pain medications during their pregnancy and studies have shown that chiropractic adjustments help to reduce time in labour.
Chiropractic can play an important role as mother and child develop together, releasing restrictions and allowing the body to perform at its best.
Your child will experience literally thousands of bumps and falls as they grow up – many of these falls capable of causing their spine to misalign. Couple this with the fact that our children are generally more sedentary today than at any time during the past, spending more hours on video games, phones and laptops instead of being physical active and it becomes obvious as to why we are seeing more postural problems in children than ever before.
Your child’s posture is a key part in their development and regular spinal checks should be as routine a part of their health care as their dental, hearing and eye check-ups.
One of the greatest traumas your spine will ever experience is the birthing process – especially when assistance is needed in the form of forceps, suction or c-section. Many parents will bring their newborn for a check soon after birth or look to us for help when their new bundle experiences distress, crying and digestive or feeding difficulties after birth.
Chiropractic techniques can be easily and safely adapted for use on newborn babies. Adjusting a newborn baby’s spine is done using the Chiropractor’s finger, applying less than the pressure that you could comfortably apply to your own eye ball.
Are you looking for more specific advice about a particular problem or injury?
If you would like to discuss via email with one of our team, then please do contact us by clicking the below button and sending us a more in-depth message.
Your first visit will begin with a consultation with one of our Practitioners. They will listen while you describe any health concerns and what brought you into the clinic.
A thorough examination will be performed, which includes state of the art digital posture and range of motion testing. If required your Practitioner can refer you externally for x rays or an MRI.
On the second visit you will return to the practice where we will discuss all the findings of the digital analysis and other testing performed at the first visit and explain why you would be a good candidate for care in order to reach your health goals and answer any questions you may have. You will be given your care plan and all financial information will be explained to you.
If you would like to begin the recommended care plan you will receive your first adjustment or treatment on this visit.
For your Chiropractic visits we recommend that you wear clothes that you feel comfortable in and that do not restrict your movement. You will remain fully clothed throughout all your visits.
For your Sports Therapy/Physiotherapy visits something that you are able to perform your exercises in such as sportswear would be best.
Following your consultation, your Practitioner will recommend a specific care plan including regular visits, regular re-examination, progress reports and reviewing your lifestyle. Your unique care plan varies with each person and is based upon your age, presenting health concerns, lifestyle, unique problems and future goals.
Our clients will generally choose to continue to benefit from care long after they have left behind the health concerns that prompted them to connect with us in the first place once they have experienced how it can change the way they live their life.
At the Optimal Wellness Centre we approach health in a unique way. As functional Practitioners we use digital analysis to measure and evaluate so we can know as much as we can about important health findings. Once you undergo care, we re-measure to track progress in an objective way so that you can be confident that you are progressing.
Definitely not! Those in their more senior years make up a large part of our members. We love helping ensure that all our members are able to move and function well, to get the most out of their lives, no matter what age they are or when they chose to start care with us!
When compared with traditional approaches Chiropractic care is remarkably safe. Chiropractic adjustments are far safer than anti-inflammatories, painkillers, muscle relaxants, and back surgery.
There are many research studies that have documented the safety and effectiveness of Chiropractic adjustments. Millions of Chiropractic adjustments are safely delivered to satisfied patients every day.
Physiotherapy and Sports Therapy have little to no risk associated with them.
Absolutely not! This is a common misconception. These types of treatments are suitable for everyone sporting or otherwise.
If we feel we cannot help you, we will let you know and help you find someone who can. If we believe your needs are best served through an alternative practitioner, we will tell you. Where possible, we will also recommend people that we know are also fantastic at their work.
